You need to give them the IMEI number - *#06# on the handset. They can then generate the unlock code. You then have the put the phone into a maintenance mode - they will tell you how - enter the number and it’s unlocked.

Works for a 𒠘i as well.

A FS is a file system and it controls what files are put on your phone. (ex. W580_R8BA024_FS_C_ASIA_RED52.fbn)

A custom pack is settings that your phone uses to coordinate everything. (ex. W580_CDA102568_7_R8A_GENERIC_C_ASIA.zip. yes it comes as a zip)

Both flash and FS must be of the same version, im not sure about the custom pack. (R8BA024 = R8BA024 = R8?)

So, in setoolҀ lite, i specified the correct model from the drop down list (W580)… then added the flash and FS files into the “files″ space, and the custom pack in the “misc files″ part, setoolҀlite should recognize which languages are specificed in the custom pack.

1) remove the battery, sim card, memory stick from the phone for a few seconds….
2) reinsert the battery…
3) while holding down C plug the phone into your usb port… windows should find some kind of sony flash device…. let it install the drivers (which you may have to download… which may not be windows verified or whatever)….
4) now unplug the phone… remove the battery… wait… replace the battery and plug the phone back in again (while holding down c)….
5) now press flash inside of setoolҀlite… (with all those files specified)
6) DO NOT disrupt this process (maybe you should have restarted your computer at the begining? to make sure u won’t freeze up?)
7) when setoolҀlite says its done, it’s done =) (it should say something about how many seconds it took… for me about 300… so 5 minutes?)
turn on your phone…. you may have to remove the battery and replace it before it’ll turn on…. it’lll take a while as it’s setting some stuff up….

DB2020 phones are k530 k550 k610 k770 k790 k800 k810 and w580 w610 w660 w710 w830 w850 w880 etc. You can find out if your phone is d󯰄 or not form the secret service menu.
To enter the secret service menu use this sequence of key strokes at phone standby screen -> * <- <- * <- * Where -> is right arrow on keypad and <- is left arrow on keypad and * is the button below 7 and left of 0.
Then in Enter Service Info and then Software Info and then look out for EROM. If you see db2020 in the EROM name. Then your phone is a D򡨄 phone and you can unlock it with this tutorial.

Save a Missed Call into your phone directory
-Scroll to “Missed Call”, press “Yes” to display the required number. Press any number (i.e. 0 to 9), then press “clear″ once to clear that number, then press & hold “<” until you see “Store”. Press “Yes”

Hide your number when calling when you don’t want the other party to know your number
-After dialling the required number & before pressing “Yes”, press “&gt;” twice to choose “Hide Id?” & then press “Yes”. Also works for pre-programmed & last dialled numbers just press “No″ & wait for the number to appear on the screen first then follow same procedure

Check you battery level when phone is off
Press “No″ quickly one time & wait for the battery meter to show up!
Save a number into your phone memory (not SIM card)
-Follow normal procedures to store a phone number. When prompted to set a storage position, press “#” once & key in desired location, or press “#” twice for next available position

Call a phone number from SMS message
-You can call from within a SMS message if the phone number is written in it. Just scroll the message until the phone number appears on the display, then press “Yes” to call.

The electronics will not be harmed by the water. What WILL harm them is trying to turn them on while circuits are shorted by the water. So DON’T try to turn the phone on until you have done this.

Scientific fact: Pure water does not conduct electricity. It’s the impurities in it that conduct. Salt is an excellent conductor, and so is saltwater. So if your phone got wet with saltwater or water with bleach or chlorine in it (ie.- municipal water… chlorine is a “salt”), the first thing to do is remove the battery and SIM card and immerse the phone in distilled water to get the salt out. Distilled water is available in any drugstore and most auto parts stores.

Not only is salt conductive, it’s also corrosive and will eat up microcircuits, so this should be done ASAP. This also applies if the battery is overcharged and leaks inside the phone. Battery “juices” are conductive and even more corrosive than salt. You can leave the phone in the distilled water without any damage till you get the silicone or WD-40 for the next step.

You don’t have to do the distilled water thing if your phone got wet in fresh water, but it wouldn’t hurt just in case there were alot of minerals in the water. Second step is to get a big can of either electronics cleaner, Brake Kleen (available in auto parts stores), or WD-40. Electronics cleaner is pure liquid silicone, and it’s the better choice (it won’t leave a smell) but in a pinch WD-40 will work (but your phone will smell like it forever). Brake Kleen is a solvent that leaves no smell or residue. Turn the can upside down and push the button till all the pressure is out. Then take a can opener and pop the bottom of the can and pour the stuff in a bowl or something (you want some depth here, so use a small diameter bowl, and make sure you get a big can). Take the phone and put it in the silicone/WD-40 and turn it over and around in the stuff. You want to get the stuff through the whole inside of the phone so turn it in every possible position.

The silicone/WD will drive the water out of the phone, so you want to also turn it so the water can run out of the various openings (like the battery cover) It would be helpful to disassemble the phone as much as possible before doing this, but I realize most people don’t have the tools to do it or are afraid to try it. This will work anyway. You may see beads of water at the bottom of the bowl when you are done doing this. That’s the water that was in your phone. Leave the phone in the silicone/WD for about 15 minutes and then take it out and let it dry on some paper for about 24 hours. Then it’s safe to put your battery back in and charge it.

If your SIM card got wet it’s probably shot and you will have to get another one. If your network won’t give you a new one, then see my post on how to unlock your phone for free, and get a different SIM for it. This post is under “Easy unlock courtesy of Motorola” in the Motorola message board.
