If you are a Windows users and haven’t tried the methods to pwn the first generation iPhone or jailbreak iPhone 3G running iPhone firmware 2.0.1 or facing an issue with it or are simply looking for an easy to use tool like iPhone Dev Team’s Pwnage Tool as it was not for the faint hearted then the good news is WinPwn v2.0.0.4, the Windows version of the Pwnage Tool 2.0.2 is out a lot faster as compared to last time.
Here are some of the features of WinPwn 2.0.0.4:
* Support for both iPhone firmware 1.1.4, 2.0 and 2.0.1.
* Root partition resize support
* Support for WinXP and Vista 32/64bit.
* Installer support.
Before you use WinPwn 2.0.0.4, do make sure that:
* You backup your iPhone
* Ensure older versions of WinPwn has been completely removed if you have installed earlier as installing on top of WinPwn 1.0 seems to be causing problems.
* You also need to make sure that you have iTunes 7.7 to work for it to work.
We are assuming the instructions last time would also work for this version:
* First create a custom IPSW using the IPSW Builder.
* Click “Ipwner” and browse for the custom IPSW that you just created. This will pwn itunes and allow you to flash Custom IPSW files via DFU mode.
* Once you have pwned iTunes, put your phone into DFU mode. You can follow these steps to achieve this:
o Connect your iPhone to your computer.
o Turn iPhone off.
o Hold power and home together for 10 seconds (exactly).
o Release power but keep holding home until the computers beeps (observed on a PC) as a USB device is recognized.
o At no point will the display come on. Now your restore should work.
* Once you are in DFU mode ITunes will pop up and then you can hold shift and click restore and browse to your custom IPSW file.
You can download WinPwn Tool 2.0.0.4 from this link [file size 23.8 MB].
We would advice caution until you hear positive feedback on the tool.

The iPhone Dev Team has just published a post claiming that they have been able to downgrade iPhone 3G’s modem firmware to an older beta firmware version.
They haven’t unlocked iPhone 3G so far, but the latest news gives an indication on the progress they are making hacking iPhone 3G’s baseband.
The iPhone Dev Team have been able to downgrade iPhone 3G’s modem firmware to an older beta firmware version by hacking its baseband so that it allows them to circumvent security checks and enables them to flash iPhone 3G with an older disallowed firmware.
They have clarified that they have not disassembled or modified the iPhone to achieve this. They have also published a screen shot (as seen below) of the “About” screen from the iPhone 3G that was hacked to run the older beta firmware.

It was earlier today that I had mentioned about the ultimate method to jailbreak iPhone 1.1.4 which the iPhone Dev Team were planning to release soon.
But you need not have to wait as iPhone hacking expert Zibri has just released the latest version of his tool, ZiPhone 2.5, to JailBreak and Unlock iPhone Firmware 1.1.4 and you can do all this with a graphical interface for both Mac OS X and Windows.
Before I go into the details it is important to mention that before you jailbreak your iPhone, be sure to backup in iTunes so that you can restore your iPhone if something goes terribly wrong and since I have not tried this method I am not in a position to confirm either way so do remember that hacking your iPhone is completely at your own risk.
When the latest iPhone firmware was released earlier in the week, Zibri had recommended users not to upgrade as he needed to make some adjustments and fully test it. At that time he had expected to release the new version of ZiPhone in 3 days and a day earlier for those who donated. However, he has been kind enough to release it to everyone thanks.
